What Is The Raw Food Diet?

The raw food diet is a diet comprised almost entirely of uncooked, unprocessed plant foods. When you eat raw plant foods, you are eating the foods carbohydrates, proteins, fats and diary contents of the plant. Protein is typically cooked or processed, but not vegetables and fruits. A typical raw food meal will consist of 75 percent uncooked root vegetables, 10 percent uncooked legumes, and five percent processed starches. The most popular uncooked foods are root vegetables, legumes, and nuts providing natural remedies.

A typical raw food meal will generally consist of a combination of at least five different vegetables, and will also include fruit if the person chooses to include it.

Some of the individual vegetables may include carrots, celery, courgette, cucumber, kale, mushrooms, some fruits (for example, apple, pears, and berries), and other foods such as sprouts, raw grains, and so forth.

The size of the uncooked portion will depend on the person’s size and type. A person who is 6 feet tall and weighs 225 pounds will most likely eat a meal that is somewhere between 20 and 75 percent uncooked vegetables. For example, an uncooked meal may consist of 20 uncooked carrots, 2 handfuls of spinach, 3 stalks of broccoli, 3 apples, and 1 bell pepper.

Technically speaking, a raw food meal is one in which the food is uncooked, not over-cooked.

A meal that is over-cooked is one in which the food is so extremely hot that it is actually harmful. The difference is extreme hotness is most likely damaging the enzymes and nutrients contained within the food. For instance, take a tomato. When it is really ripe, it should be coated in oil to prevent the skin from falling off.

A cooked tomato is completely stripped of all the nutrients and enzymes, and has no flavor. Raw food meals will most likely have only vegetables, fruits, or some nuts and grains.

A raw food meal is very easy to enjoy because it is also delicious and good for you. It has only a few ingredients: lettuce, cucumber, and whatever other vegetable or fruit the person happens to have in their fridge. To get you more excited about trying the raw food diet, here are a couple of common foods included in a raw food meal.

1. Salad

For a salad, all you need is a few raw vegetables, some dressing, and of course a dressing – one of the many choices available on the market. Think million difference between a few forkfuls of virgin olive oil versus a tablespoon? Raw foodists claim that it takes three times the amount of time to digest lettuce, carrots, etc. than it does to cook a similar serving of cooked lettuce. Adding some dressing to the salad will certainly make it taste much better.

If you are not a huge fan of the taste of raw vegetables, you can also add some dried fruits and cranberries.

2. Smoothie

A smoothie is another popular form of uncooked food meal. In a smoothie, you can make use of either fruits or vegetables. The advantage to making smoothies is that you can take them anywhere with you, while playing a game of flip-bookaker or just enjoying a nice cup of hot coffee while you make your smoothie.

The making of smoothies is very simple. You will first need to cut your fruits and vegetables into similar size pieces. You can also combine different fruits and vegetables together, for example mango and carrots, or celery and pineapple. Put a cup of milk or juice in the blender with a half a cup of water, and you’re set. To get a smooth texture, you can add ice cubes or you can blend the fruit and vegetable together.

A good example smoothie recipe would be:

1 mango with 3 carrots peeled

2 apples with a ½ lemon

1 stalk of celery

The nice thing about drinking smoothies is that you can make one for yourself.

It is also a good way to get your kids to drink, although the flavor of the fruit is primary. You have the option of buying smoothies from stores, or you can make them yourself.

The raw uncooked food meal idea definitely has a lot of benefits. Good health and obviously more energy. It’s also a nice idea to get people to have some kind of meal plan for raw foods.

The idea is to drink raw living food to stay healthy. Of course, live foods (fruits, vegetables, sprouts, nuts, and more) are unaltered, natural, and have a lot of enzymes, which is why they are so healthy.

You can actually make your own raw uncooked food drinks. With a juicer, you can make fruit drinks and vegetable drinks. With a blender, you can make smoothies.
